Next weekend, May 1st and 2nd, the Warburton Cycling Festival is taking place. There’s a multitude of mountain bike events, a road race and guess what….a CYCLOCROSS RACE! Yes, the rest of the world is laughing at us and our backwards seasons, but a cross race and summer weather just don’t mix.
It’s still early days for Australian cyclocross racing, but you can bet that if it ever takes off there will be an Aussie World Champion in the next 5 years. Personally, I’d love to see cross gain popularity. If anyone else in Australia is promoting a cyclocross event feel free to send me the details.
You can find everything you need to know about the Warby Cycling Festival here. I’ll be bringing my new steed and looking to pawn off my last cross trophy to the winner (which I can guarantee will NOT be me!).
If you’ve missed the registration cut-off for Melburn Roobaix missing out on a great event. Everything from racer dudes, hipsters, couriers, mountain bikers, etc all getting together for the biggest scavenger hunt Melbourne has ever seen. 420 have registered all ready and there’s ONE last lucky spot being selected in a competition (the Black Sheep). Post your vote for who should get the last spot. I personally think #4 (the video) is the best by a long shot.
I’ll see you at the Hell of the Northcote on May 30! To find out what it’s all about, check out the video from last year.
