Talk about panache! Thomas De Gendt (who lost yellow jersey yesterday) immediately went on the offensive and broke away with Thomas Voeckler and two others at the beginning of the stage. For the second time during this tour the ‘echappees bidon’ managed to stay away by a matter of seconds and shook up the GC.

Matty Goss didn’t feel so good and lost yellow but still somehow managed to make it over the climbs in the front bunch. It looks like Hendo had a few dramas in the hills which lost him over 13 minutes on GC with many others. The good news is that Haussler finally won a bunch kick and he’s looking good for Milan-San Remo!
