Don’t miss out on the latest CyclingTips updates.
126 riders came out in the heat and smashed it in the Kurrajong at Gazebo Rd1 this morning. It was HOT & dusty – hard to believe the trails were under threat of rain damage less than 10 days ago.
Results are up on the Results page, or www.gmbc.com.au , but the short version is:
A grade: GMBC’er Tim Corbett showed his Enduro credentials to beat a speedy Jack Lamshed in the last 2 laps, followed by Brendan Adair (who got the prize for a crash in transition).
B grade: Mark Ferguson, Ben English and Gerard McHugh made up the podium, all with 8 laps (remember it was 9.8km per lap so that’s nearly 80km in a 3hr event!)
C grade: Ben Culton beat Pete Findon by 4 mins (but that’s not bad – Pete had a serious injury after his last GMBC event and spent a week in hospital!), with Gary Jeffries another 3mins behind.
Women: It was fantastic to see 17 women take the start line with Jo Riley taking the honours, followed by Courtney Shinn & GMBC’er Leonie Abbott.
Juniors: Sam Wilson was the only competitor in the 2hr event, but took off the prize with a very creditable 5 laps (50km) – Well done Sam.
Liam Jeffries won the 1hr event convincingly with 3 laps completed in 1hr 12min, followed by James Butler & Kyle Withers on 2 laps.
The GMBC committee were blown away with the response to this event and we hope you’ll all come back for Rd 2. Same venue but a night race, starting at 7pm on Friday February 3rd. Rego opens at 5.30pm – should be a blast!
Stephen Rowe was there today snapping photos and he is donating $5 from every bulk purchase back to the club, so get together with your fellow racers and put in a bulk order; check them out at www.mtb-images.com.au.
Thanks very much to all our helpers – you were fabulous!
See you all on Friday night at NFF
