There’s still room left for some Elite teams as well as graded racers for this SKCC’s Melbourne Criterium Sprint Championships this Sunday. Entries close today so if you don’t sign up, you’ll be missing one of the biggest and richest criteriums in Australia.

Gerro, Lloydie, Henderson, Koen de Kort, are confirmed (and many others TBD) as well as the biggest continental teams including Drapac, Genesys, Budget Forklifts, the VIS, SASI, and others with the intent on attracting riders preparing for Australia’s summer of cycling – the Jayco Herald Sun Tour, Bay Cycling Classic, the National Road Race and the Tour Down Under.

The races will be held on Sunday, Dec 23rd around SKCC’s regular Port Melbourne criteruim course. The total prize pool for elite men is $17,500 with the rest of the prize money spread across elite women and the four support races. The Elite Men’s race will have 20 sprint primes worth $500 each over the 90 minutes. That’s a bunch sprint every 3-4 laps which will make the racing rediculously fast and exciting!

It’s not only a day for the elite men. A-D grades and Elite Women also have races on for good prize money and sprint primes. Each team consists of six riders (three minimum) with the same jersey. The Elite Men’s event is a team entry only, no individual entries. All other events allow either team or individual entry.
