In less than a week there will be 5,000 of us on the startline of the fourth annual Amy’s Gran Fondo. To add to this spectacular event, we’ve teamed up with the Amy Gillett Foundation and Subaru to bring you “Amy’s Wall”; none other than a good old fashioned hill-climb competition up one of Victoria’s steepest roads.
In the host town of Lorne sits one of Victoria’s steepest climbs which is where we naturally chose the venue for the inaugural running of the Amy’s Wall hill-climb event on Saturday 13th September from 5:30pm.
Riders will launch themselves up the first gruelling section of Bay Street which towers above the Lorne Lifesaving Club. Hitting more than 20% in the first brutal metres, gear selection and pacing will be everything as groups of 4 riders at a time fight their way to the top of the taxing 120m climb.
With large and rowdy crowds expected, some incredible prizes (not only for the winners, but spot prizes for “best pain face” and such) and a dusk finish, the hill-climb is the perfect appetiser to get you in the mood for Sunday’s Amy’s Gran Fondo.
Do you have what it takes to become the first Amy’s Wall King and Queen of the Mountain?
There’s $1000 in cash prizes up fro grabs, two lots of three days of Europcar car rentals, and spot prizes for “best pain face”.
There are a limited number of spots are available and places will sell fast. Entries are $20 and all proceeds go to the Amy Gillett Foundation. No registrations on the day.
We will not be grading competitors. First come, first serve (and freshest legs!).
