Isn’t that a pic of Chris-Anker in the article about Nicki?

  • Kieran Degan

Bad news about the Glibier. One of my favorite climbs, and very sentimental due to its role in Cadel’s victory.

    • Andy B

Yep this news makes me sad :(

    • chirs

This may be old information, the road was meant to be reopened on the 10.7.2015 but According other sources more than likely the 20th.

  • Mark Blackwell

The Peaks challenge is “a 235km SLOG through the Victorian Alps”?! I didn’t see that anywhere in the marketing materials… it’s the “ultimate personal challenge” according to the organisers, or have they got it wrong?

        Mr Blackwell isn’t in marketing.

Is that image of a snow-clad Galibier really from the TdF 2013?? I personally can’t remember, but surely not so much snow in the middle of July???

    • _kw

Was there for the Alpe d’Huez double and cycled the Galibier two days after. There was not much snow. Plus the 2013 TdF came to the Alpe from Gap via the Col d’Ornon and the subsequent day was from Bourg d’Oisans over the Col du Gladon, the Col de Madeleine ad the Col de la Croix Fry to Le Grand Bornand. AFAIK, Stage 14 of last year’s edition went over the Col du Lautaret but not further up to the Galibier.

I think they got the caption wrong and that it is a picture of the Galibier during the 2013 GIRO.

        • Ostler

          I don’t think that it’s even Galibier.

So Dutch cyclists gain another 6 months of life span.Seems a poor return for all those hours busting yourself on winter roads freezing ones nether regions off or toiling up some endless climb in the hot sun cursing your poor choice of gearing.Oh well I suppose its fun.
Pity about the Tour I do hope it lives up to the Giro in racing excitement.
So the ASO may take over running the Tour of California that should give it more leverage with the UCI.

    • There aren’t too many days with freezing weather here in the Netherlands. Nor are there endless climbs. There aren’t even any climbs in most of the country. Cycling here is mostly about getting from A to B over distances of less then 5km.
