Admontem is a small, Sydney-based online apparel brand that was launched with the idea that “premium handcrafted cycling kit should exist at honest prices”. The team claims to have a strong background in textile R&D and garment development — a background which has set them up to “produce simple, high quality, and functional products” that have been “developed for adventure”.
The brand’s first clothing line consists of the All Rounder Jersey and All Rounder Knicks. The jersey is available in three colour options (Black, Navy and Burgundy) and the knicks are available in two colourways (Black and Burgundy).
According to Admontem the slim-cut jersey is made of lightweight, fast-drying and breathable fabric which, like most cycling clothing, actively transports moisture away from the skin to keep the rider dry. In addition, a strip of more breathable fabric across the midriff allows for greater air circulation.
The All Rounder Knicks claim to offer “a perfect blend of comfort and performance” courtesy of a “firm-fitting 3D anatomical cut” and a Cytech multi-density endurance pad/chamois. Both the knicks and jersey are desribed by Admontem as “antibacterial, anti-odour and UV protective”.
CyclingTips was sent a set of black All Rounder kit for review.

Aesthetically, the Admontem All Rounder kit is strikingly simple — one colour throughout with only Admontem’s white X logo on the front and the back as a point of differentiation. Depending on your preference, this simplicity is either refreshing (in a world of increasingly ‘loud’ kits) or dull (there’s not a whole lot to make it stand out from other, plain black kits).
(It’s worth noting that the black kit we tested did seem closer to a dark navy in bright sunlight.)
The alternate material of the midriff does break up the otherwise monotone design, and the navy and burgundy colour options have slightly different colours in that section as an additional point of differentiation.
Perhaps the most satisfying design element of this ensemble is a cheeky little phrase that’s printed on the inside of the knicks. It reads: “More than 2 shakes is playing with yourself”. If you look carefully at the front of the knicks, just below the line of the jersey, you can see an indentation from the printed text. On the subject of nature breaks, the low cutout makes for easy access without stretching the bib straps — always a welcome addition.
The pad/chamois offers the level of comfort you’d expect from Cytech’s proven endurance option — more than comfortable on the three to four hour rides we tested the knicks on. The elastic arm- and leg-grippers ensure the jersey and knicks stay in place exactly as you would hope.
Overall, Admontem’s All Rounder Jersey and Knicks are a solid ensemble that offers a comfortable ride and simple styling. Individual preference will of course determine whether the minimalist design is to one’s liking, but for us, it was a case of simple but effective.
