UCI announces 18 WorldTour teams, says four Pro Continental squads still awaiting approval

Following on from the announcement by MTN-Qhubeka/Team Dimension Data that it had been awarded a WorldTour licence for 2016, the UCI has confirmed that the seventeen other squads which had applied for a place in the top level have been accepted.

Those other squads are Cannondale Pro Cycling Team (CPT – USA), Dimension Data (DDD – RSA), Etixx – Quick Step (EQS – BEL), Team Katusha (KAT – RUS), Lampre-Merida (LAM – ITA), Lotto Soudal (LTS – BEL) and Tinkoff (TNK – RUS), also given a green light today, and also the previously-approved Ag2r La Mondiale (ALM – FRA), Astana Pro Team (AST – KAZ), BMC Racing Team (BMC – USA), FDJ (FDJ – FRA), IAM Cycling (IAM – SUI), Movistar Team (MOV – ESP), Orica Greenedge (OGE – AUS), Team Giant – Alpecin (TGA – GER), Team Lotto Nl – Jumbo (TLJ – NED), Team Sky (SKY – GBR) and Trek Factory Racing (TFR – USA).

Also announced are the identities of the teams which have applied for Pro Continental licences. These include Teams Roth-Skoda (ROT – SUI) and Cult Energy – Sto?lting Group (CST – DEN), confirmed today, plus the following:

Roompot Oranje Peloton (ROP – NED)
Rusvelo (RVL – RUS)
Team Novo Nordisk (TNN – USA)

Four teams applying for UCI Professional Continental status are still under review of the Licence Commission. These are Bardiani-CSF, Southeast, CCC and Direct Energie. The UCI said a further update concerning these will be made in December.
