NEWS AND RACING BROUGHT TO YOU BY CHAPTER2 BIKES
It was a fast and furious night of racing on stage two of the Santos Women’s Tour with Wiggle High5 stealing the show in the short criterium in Adelaide.
After 12 laps of the 1.7 kilometre course around Rymill Park, it was Wiggle High5’s Nettie Edmondson who crossed the line first ahead of her lead-out rider, Chloe Hosking, who hung in for second and Orica-AIS’ Lizzie Williams rounded out the podium.
The race saw a few solo attacks but no one was given much room to make anything stick.
The race saw a few solo efforts but no one got much room to get away and the race was destined for a bunch sprint. A crash in lap 10 split the field in half but most of the race favourites were unaffected.
In the last lap, ORICA-AIS, with the GC leader in their midst, moved to the front of the pack working for Williams. Wiggle High5 timed the last corner well, coming over the top of the Orica-AIS riders and taking the win.
The race was destined for a bunch finish
Garfoot struggled a bit for position but managed a safe pack finish in order to retain her blue leader’s jersey going into stage three.
Stage 3 is the longest of the tour and will take riders on a 100.8km course around Lyndoch.
