WOMEN'S CYCLING BROUGHT TO YOU BY ORBEA
Now that we have our first Ella CyclingTips ambassadors you can not only be a part of the Ella community on the site, but if you are in Victoria you can also come and join us out on the road. Weekly rides have started up in Melbourne, along with a roving monthly ride.
We’ll also have a weekly ride starting in Geelong soon and more events around the country and world as we continue to roll out our ambassador programme.
The Melbourne ride starts at 6.00am every Tuesday, so join our welcoming ambassadors for a 50 minute spin before work on the Yarra Boulevard and in the areas surrounding it. The intermediate level women’s ride meets at the end of Burnley St in Richmond, opposite Victoria Gardens and finishes off with coffee at Frankie Says.
Being mid-winter it’s dark out there, not to mention rather chilly, so come well prepared with layers and a powerful set of lights so you are warm and visible. The ride will run every week, barring diabolical weather so if the forecast is looking dubious check the Ella Instagram the night before the ride as that’s where we will announce any cancellations.
There will also be regular monthly rides and events, shifting around Melbourne and beyond. The style of riding will vary, with our aim being to share some of our favourite ride locations, whether they are on the road or off it.
Our first ride on Saturday June 25 is heading for the hills to the north of Melbourne in a joint pedal with the crew from MAAP, who we also teamed up with to create our Ella ambassador kit. The Ella ambassadors will guide you around a course with plenty of short but sharp hills, in a ride which will pack over 1,000 metres of climbing into less than 70 kilometres.
The ride starts at Eltham Lower Park, 570 Main Rd, Eltham at 8:30am. The forecast, at this stage, is for cool conditions and the chance of showers, but a bit of damp weather won’t be enough to deter us from getting out on the bike. All the details can be found on the Facebook event page.
