Colbrelli sprints to win in Tour de Limousin

by CyclingTips

Sonny Colbrelli (Bardiani-CSF) won the third stage of the Tour du Limousin. The Italian  sprinted ahead of Marc Soler (Movistar) and Carlos Barbero (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA). Joey Roskopff (BMC) remains in the overall lead.

“I am very happy for this victory and a little surprised,” said Colbrelli. “I never thought of going so strong. The last few months have been a bit troubled. I had pneumonia, then the after-effects of the injury suffered at the Giro and finally a Tour of Poland with ups and downs. Before leaving for the Tour du Limousin I was not sure what to expect.

“The success today is a pleasant confirmation but not the end point. I can grow again and moving towards a grand final season. That’s the goal, with particular attention to the most demanding races such as the Bretagne Classic. And then there’s the Italian calendar, where I want to help the team win the Italian Cup. In short, the weeks ahead are important and we want to [do the best].”

The early breakaway was Dutchman Nick van der Kind (Roompot Orange Platoon) seeking KOM points, which was reeled in early. A second leading group had more chances but was also caught ahead of the finish.

    • Sounds strange, but I kinda miss the smell of skunk after moving to Aus. When you think about it, what an incredible natural defence mechanism.

I know many people with the same natural defence system….
