What a day at the Giro Rosa. The climbs for the individual time trial of stage 5 turned out to be ridiculously steep, with gradients of 20% that saw some competitors zig zagging across the course just to make it.

Though the grimace on the face from that last nasty climb before the finish line quickly turned into an almighty grin for Orica-Scott’s Annemiek van Vleuten as she delivered the quickest time of the day. Not only did she win her second stage of the tour, but clawed back a huge chunk of time on her GC competitors and moved up from fourth to third overall.

Get the inside story of the stage victory, including an impressive on the go chain fix, with the latest instalment of Orica-Scott’s Backstage Pass above.
