Barguil = my rider of the Tour.

Sunweb [polka/ green] = my team of the Tour.

The race ( if you want to call it that) was over in the first week. Perhaps we need a review of the whole shooting match as it is dead boring

    • We must not be watching the same race! I think this is the most exciting TdF since 2011 when Cadel won in the final TT.

There are periods of definite interest but the GC thing is Froome’s to lose and I have had that feeling since day 1. Gone are the man on man battles that existed for the GC in times gone……. a la all be it that stare form Lance to Jan

        • I have a feeling that in hindsight we remember a compilation of amazing moments of the Tour, but in reality most of them are quite scripted and disappointing when we’re in the middle of them. Far too often do the favourites abandon too early, or a strong team like USPS or Sky controls the race and strangle the competition. The Giro and Vuelta often bring the most suspense for GC until the final day. I was holding my breath for the green jersey battle between Matthews and Kittel, but now that it is over I still think we’re in for a show over the next few days.

you’re kidding. Short memories are incredibly powerful, I guess.

I shouldn’t need to remind anyone of the postal bus that was as stifling or better than Sky. Similar tactics, except that Lance never had a bad day or a Landa-like controversy. Which is what I guess happens when a rider co-owns the team.

Reality we have had these superteams with one superb rider very frequently. LA was one. Indurain dispensed stage wins left and right. Go further back and find out that Merckx and Anquetil were even dissuaded to participate in some tours to keep public interest in them, such was their stranglehold.

To your credit, it did get messy and impredictable from 2006 to 2012 where we had the ‘is he going to trip the dope-o-meter?’ suspension lottery every year, with many “lucky winners” like the Chicken, Landis, Contador, Basso, Ulrich, Vinokourov, Triki, Sella, Ricco, Kolobnev… If you mean suspense in that regard, then a resounding yes!

Agree Wade. First week was take it or leave it for me. But ever since stage 7 the race has steadily consul in intensity.

It’s def the riders who make the race. Although the GC rivals to Froome have sttuggled to inflict a blow, others like Barguil, Matthews (all of Sunweb actually) have made it a cracking race.

I’ve enjoyed it. And although Matt and Robbie don’t have dolce tones of P&P, I really think they’ve done a great job.

Robbie can definitely read a race.
