The 2018 Santos Tour Down Under is only a matter of days away, and once again we’ll be heading over to catch the build-up and cover the race. For those of you who are planning to visit Adelaide, here are a list of events we’re organising. We look forward to seeing you there!

DAILY RIDES

The temperature in Adelaide around the Santos Tour Down Under always seems to be perfect for cycling! With that in mind, here’s what we have planned:

To celebrate the 2018 Santos Tour Down Under, CyclingTips will be hosting daily rides from Monday to Saturday. We’ll be taking in some of Adelaide’s most iconic routes, including the twisty Gorge Road, scenic Mt Lofty, the Strava-famous Corkscrew Road climb, and iconic Willunga Hill. Those of you who are new to riding in South Australia are in for a treat.

The rides are structured in such a way that you can kick off your day with a ride and coffee before watching the stage, checking out the village or doing some more riding!

It’s not easy to navigate the maze of unfamiliar roads all while trying to judge when the race comes by. But we’ve got it all sorted out for you.

One of the most unique things about the Santos Tour Down Under is that on many of the stages the pros will ride home from the stage finish – and us punters get to join them.

DAILY PRIZES

We’ll have daily prize pack giveaways throughout the week, and a few other surprises up our sleeve!

RIDE IN THE SHIMANO NEUTRAL SPARES CAR – SATURDAY 20TH JANUARY
One lucky registered rider will win a place riding with Shimano neutral spares on the penultimate stage of the Santos Tour Down Under. There is no better way to watch the climb up Willunga!

RIDE IN THE TREK TEAM CAR & EXCLUSIVE TEAM EXPERIENCE – SUNDAY 21ST JANUARY
One lucky registered rider will win a once in a lifetime experience riding in the Trek team car on the final stage of the Santos Tour Down Under. They’ll meet the team, sit in the front passenger seat of the team car next to the directeur sportif, discuss tactics and hang out with the riders as they go through their post-race recovery.

TWILIGHT CINEMA PRESENTED BY CYCLINGTIPS

On Thursday 18th January (time TBC) join us in the event village for an outdoor twilight screening of the Orica-Scott movie All For One. Grab a refreshing beer or glass of wine, and then kick back for the screening.

Film blurb:

“United by their renegade spirit and a determination to win against substantial odds, these riders take on the international circuit. The film offers unique insights into the first five years of their journey, bearing witness to the ethos of the team as embodied by all – from the strongest to most embattled members. Out of a culture that embraces a deeply human approach to sport, unlikely champions are born, and seemingly improbable team and personal goals are achieved.”
