Peter Sagan (Bora-hansgrohe) started the stage 3 team time trial in yellow but certainly didn’t end it that way. The world champion dropped roughly three minutes against some of his rivals, slipping from first overall way down to 80th.
Not that it matters in the slightest for Sagan — he’s at the Tour to win stages. He’s already won one and it would be a brave individual that bet against him winning another.
As many people expected, the stage 3 TTT went the way of BMC, the Swiss/American team putting four seconds into Team Sky and seven seconds into QuickStep Floors. That result put Greg Van Avermaet into the yellow jersey; a jersey he may well wear for a few days now.
In the meantime, be sure to check out the following photos from the stage 3 team time trial. They come to you courtesy of Kristof Ramon, Jered & Ashley Gruber and Cor Vos.
