Photo gallery: Suffering on the stones at the 2019 Paris-Roubaix

by Matt de Neef

Is there a more iconic one-day race than Paris-Roubaix? A race that commands respect and attention like the Hell of the North? We don’t think so. It’s the cobbles, the crashes, the dust, the velodrome. It’s the battles that have played out over the pave in years gone by. It’s the legends that have been forged on those horrible stones.

The 2019 edition of Paris-Roubaix was won this past weekend by Deceuninck-QuickStep’s evergreen Monuments man, Philippe Gilbert. You can read our breakdown of the race and Gilbert’s transformation here. You can also read about how the other favourites fared, and how Wout Van Aert’s stellar ride is emblematic of the beautiful brutality that is Paris-Roubaix.

Today, we’ve got our Paris-Roubaix gallery for you to pore over. It features photos from Kristof Ramon and the Grubers (Ashley and Jered) and we’re sure you’ll agree that, as ever, they’ve done a stellar job of capturing the day.
