Twelve months ago, Shimano announced its 12-speed XTR drivetrain. It looked just as refined and well-executed as you’d expect a top-tier race-oriented group to be, but there was one problem – it was nearly impossible to purchase. Several factors, including a fire at Shimano’s anodizing facility, delayed the production of the group, and the availability kept getting pushed further and further back. In fact, it was only in the last month or so that the entire group, including cranks, became available. (Read more.)
