Esteban Chaves is undoubtedly one of the most popular riders in the pro peloton. Since joining the WorldTour with Orica GreenEDGE (now Mitchelon-SCOTT), the charismatic Colombian has developed a cult following – as much for his climbing as his cheerful demeanour and near-constant smile.
He’s also produced some excellent results, including podium finishes and stage wins at both the Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a España, and a monument win at il Lombardia in 2016.
But there’s a lot more to Esteban Chaves than just a smiling climber.
In the last couple of years, Chaves has been challenged by a rollercoaster of ups and downs, struggling with sickness and career threatening injuries.
This 22 minute documentary, filmed during a time of recuperation in Colombia, provides a never before seen insight into his life on and off the bike, his struggles and joys, and his past and future goals.
