Due to COVID-19, funding is being cut, while more and more people are outside using the trails. There is a large gap between current funding and what is required to build and maintain the trails that bring us so much joy. Which got us thinking…

There are days when, if your only view of mountain biking was through Pinkbike, you might think that no one has less than 160 mm of travel or ever hits the trails without kneepads. We all know that’s not the case, though, and the truth is that cross-country bikes vastly outsell all other types, despite what it might look like around these parts.
And if you’re thinking, “But Levy, why would I buy a bike that tries to kill me on the downhills just because it’s faster on the uphills,” I’m right there with you. Thing is, the latest generation of cross-country bikes aren’t anything like the old skittery flyweights synonymous with the fitness-focused slice of our sport.

If you ever find yourself thinking about which destination you would like to visit whenever the leaves turn brown and the days get colder and shorter, it’s usually Italy, Spain, Portugal or New Zealand. Those countries always come to mind in the first place, maybe because they are well known for mountain biking or maybe because you’ve already visited them two, three or 10 times. You might even find yourself booking the same hotel, eating the same food, seeing the same views, and riding the same trails you’ve already ridden for years in a row. But why wouldn’t you once in a while step out of your comfort zone and take a risk, travel to a country that you’ve never explored with bikes before?
Pipedream launches limited edition Ti Moxie Hardtail

UK-based bike brand Pipedream has announced a limited edition Titanium version of its Moxie hardtail that will be limited to just 24 frames. The frame will share the geometry of the new MK3 version of the standard Moxie but it also feature a new custom-butted tubeset using an ovalised down tube and top tube. Pipedream says its mission with the updated MK3 Moxie was to “create the most aesthetically beautiful and highest performance steel and titanium bicycle frames.”
