Gallery: Lutsenko sets sail on stage 6 of the Tour de France

by Matt de Neef

The second uphill finish of this year’s Tour de France offered the prospect of fireworks from the overall contenders. We didn’t really get that. What we did get was an impressive solo victory from Alexey Lutsenko (Astana).

Most riders seemed content to let the breakaway have its day and the Kazakh champ was more than happy to take advantage of the peloton’s collective generosity. Back in the bunch Adam Yates (Mitchelton-Scott) held onto yellow for another day despite a late surge from former leader Julian Alaphilippe (Deceuninck-QuickStep).

Here’s how stage 6 unfolded, as captured by Kristof Ramon, Jered & Ashley Gruber and Cor Vos.
