Ineos Grenadiers team vehicles vandalized in Belgium
Four people have been arrested for vandalizing vehicles belonging to the Ineos Grenadiers team in Flanders, Het Nieuwsblad reports.
Six team vehicles were vandalized. Some were spray-painted, and others were wrapped in foil. Aerosol cans were found at the scene.
Some vehicles were vandalized with the words “Ineos will fall.” As Het Nieuwsblad notes, that slogan is being used by some groups protesting the construction of a new factory being built by the team’s sponsor, chemical company Ineos, in Antwerp.
The incident occurred in the town of Deinze, where the Ineos team’s service course is located (and also where Gent-Wevelgem started for several years prior to this season’s start in Ypres).
Het Nieuwbslad reports that four suspects were arrested on Sunday, according to the public prosecutor for East Flanders.
