Gallery: The grit and beauty of the 2022 Paris-Roubaix Femmes

by Matt de Neef

It normally takes years for a new race to become a focal point in the calendar. Years for the race to build enough history and prestige that it becomes a true must-watch event.

Of course Paris-Roubaix Femmes is no normal bike race. It’s a race that builds on the 126-year legacy of the formidable men’s event, but now the women’s peloton, too, finally – finally – has its opportunity to race the infamous pavé of northern France.

Just two years into its existence, Paris-Roubaix Femmes is already one of the most important and most-loved races on the women’s calendar. And Saturday’s edition lived up to that billing, even without the defending champion Lizzie Deignan (maternity leave), and the GOAT, Marianne Vos (COVID).
