Gravel racer Moriah Wilson shot and killed in Austin, Texas

The homicide was reported on Thursday, a few days before Moriah Wilson was due to ride the Gravel Locos race.

Gravel racing star Moriah Wilson, known as ‘Mo’, was shot and killed in Austin, Texas, on Wednesday May 11. 

Vermont-native Wilson was staying with a friend in central Austin at the time of the shooting having travelled from her home in Colorado for the Gravel Locos race this weekend, where she was a favourite to win. CBS Austin said that local police had responded to a call of gunshots late on Wednesday night, and the homicide was reported on Thursday.

Wilson’s death is under investigation as ‘suspicious’, and the identity and motive of the shooter are as yet unknown. No further details had been released by the Austin Police Department as of Friday morning.
