The 23-man squad for Doug Ryder’s new cycling team, Q36.5, has been unveiled.

Ryder is the former team principal of the now-defunct Team Qhubeka WorldTour team, which was shuttered at the end of 2021 following major controversy around one of its title sponsors.

With cycling clothing brand Q36.5 as title sponsor, the ProTeam-level outfit will be home to a number of experienced WorldTour riders.

Jack Bauer and Damien Howson move over from BikeExchange-Jayco, Mark Donovan comes across from Team DSM, while the likes of Gianluca Brambilla, Joey Rosskopf, Tobias Ludvigsson and Carl Frederik Hagen will also all provide top tier experience to the new team.

Alex Sans Vega, the former sports director at Human Powered Health, will be the team’s head of performance, the recently retired Vincenzo Nibali will be a technical advisor for the team as well as a brand ambassador for the Q36.5 company, with Ryder taking up the position of general manager.

“We have assembled a talented, motivated and committed group of individuals, who can be competitive in every type of race and terrain. We want to perform at the highest level from the beginning,” Sans Vega said. “The experienced riders who have joined us from the WorldTour bring a wealth of knowledge and will be able to mentor the youngsters in our squad. We have an excellent mix to become one of the best Pro Teams.”

“With progress at the heart of who we are, our goal is also to help communities grow sustainably using the upward mobility that bikes offer,” added Ryder. “Bikes don’t only bring people together; they also help move them forward. As a team, we’ll be racing for more than just winning; we’re racing to shape the future in a positive way, with a key focus on mobility, education, and development in Africa.”
