Adam Hansen continues at the Giro despite hand injury

by CyclingTips

Adam Hansen (Lotto Soudal) might have crashed on Saturday’s stage 14 of the Giro d’Italia, but the Aussie hardman’s world record Grand Tour participation streak doesn’t appear to be in jeaopardy.

Hansen was brought down late in the stage following a touch of wheels and suffered what a suspected hairline fracture to a bone in his palm. But in his 17th-straight Grand Tour, Hansen wasn’t about to give up.

“It’s something in the palm, it’s not too good,” Hansen said after stage 15. “I have padding put in a special area, and I can hold the handlebar well.”

Hansen has completed every Grand Tour since the 2011 Vuelta a Espana.
