Adam Yates fractures pelvis in Catalunya crash

by Caley Fretz

Adam Yates suffered a fractured pelvis in a late-stage crash at the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, according to a team statement.

Yates underwent consultation with an orthopedic specialist in Girona on Thursday, which confirmed the fracture was stable.

Mitchelton-SCOTT head doctor Robbart van Linschoten remains optomistic.

“Adam has a fracture of his pelvis as a result of his crash but the fracture is stable and won’t require surgery,” Dr. van Linschoten said.

“He will take 10 days of complete rest before we conduct another x-ray to confirm the healing process. At this point, pending results and pain levels, Adam can begin to ride again on the home trainer.”
