French cyclist Alexis Vuillermoz (Ag2r La Mondiale) will spend at least a month on the sidelines after being injured in a car crash.

In a team announcement on Friday, Ag2r La Mondiale revealed that the Tour de France stage winner fractured his first lumbar vertebrae in the incident.

“It is important to take good care of a back injury so as not to risk the continuation of my season,” said Vuillermoz. The 28-year-old was supposed to race the Volta a Valenciana from February 1-5 but will now be forced to delay the start of his season.
