Amy Pieters claims third-straight Dwars door Vlaanderen win

by Matt de Neef

The women’s Dwars door Vlaanderen mightn’t be on the UCI calendar (until next year) but the race still attracts an impressive line-up. And as with the men’s race, the decision to hold the women’s Dwars door Vlaanderen was made quite late, but it eventually went ahead.

At the end of the day it was Amy Pieters (Wiggle High5) that took the spoils, winning her third straight Dwars door Vlaanderen ahead of teammate Jolien d’Hoore and Eileen Roe (Lares-Waowdeals).

Pieters, d’Hoore and Roe had been part of a breakaway that got clear on the Oude Kwaremont climb and while another rider would come across on the Paterberg, the race would all come back together ahead of the final sprint.
