Andrei Nechita wins Sibiu Cycling Tour prologue

by CyclingTips

Romanian Andrei Nechita took the home win in the opening prologue of the Sibiu Cycling Tour. Second place went to Italy’s Giacomo Berlato (Nippo Vini Fantini), only two seconds slower. Adrian Kurek (CCC Sprandi Polkowice) finished in third just off Berlato’s time.

“It was one of those time trials where it’s almost impossible to not make a mistake,” third place Kurek said. “Mine happened at one of the corners, where I was going too fast. I am a little bit disappointed but at the same time happy about my shape.”

“We came here to fight for the overall win for Davide Rebellin and we can’t wait for the mountain stages,”Kurek continued. “Tomorrow may be a nervous day. Teams consist of only six riders so it will be hard to control the race.”

The 2.3km technical course wound its way through downtown Sibiu.
