Dennis, Garfoot dominate Aussie TT champs; Porte satisfied: Daily News Digest
Following criticism about the extremely muted Italian champion’s jersey that UAE Team Emirates unveiled, the squad said earlier this week that it would rework the design.
Team manager Giuseppe Saronni told La Gazzetta dello Sport that the earlier version was just a draft, and that the new one would see the Italian flag being made more prominent. However he also said that the team wouldn’t make the colours as visible as with Aru’s Astana jersey last season.
“The basic principles will not change,” he said. “We have to negotiate between different interests. The first choice is simple, it’s a fully tri-colour jersey. The smaller flag at the chest was born with Movistar and Giovanni Visconti. The UAE version is, I think, a good compromise.”
That rejigged jersey has been pictured on social media, showing that the colours are indeed more prominent than before, but less visible than last year.
