by CyclingTips

Darwin Atapuma (UAE Abu Dhabi) suffered a hard crash on the second stage of the Vuelta a San Juan, with his team reporting that he briefly lost consciousness and was transported to hospital.

“He has strong contusions and facial bruises. He is under observation in hospital, nothing really serious,” his team later said on Twitter.

As a precaution, Atapuma remained in hospital for observation.

Also crashing on the final of the stage were Valerio Agnoli (Bahrain Merida) with multiple abrasions and Brazilian Maicke Monteiro.
