Irish cycling is coming to terms with the loss of Gabriel ‘Gaybo’ Howard, the former An Post Rás stage winner who was killed in a farming accident last Friday. The Stamullen man was a successful rider during his amateur career, taking that Rás stage victory and riding a total of 21 editions of the race.

Following his retirement from racing his passion for the sport saw him continue contributing in a number of rules, including as a race organiser, a race announcer and the provision of neutral support to riders in the An Post Rás. His funeral will take place in Stamullen on Wednesday morning.

Listen below for a superb interview with Howard, previously recorded and broadcast on Tuesday by the LMFM station.
