Belgian velodrome packed out to farewell Fabian Cancellara

by CyclingTips

Fabian Cancellara (Trek-Segafredo) might have ridden his last UCI-classifed race at the Olympics back in August, but the Swiss powerhouse got a proper send-off at the ‘t Kuipke velodrome in Ghent over the weekend.

In his last ever race as a professional, Cancellara beat Sir Bradley Wiggins in a 2km individual pursuit, delighting a crowd of more than 6,000.

Cancellara ends his career with three wins at Paris-Roubaix and the Tour of Flanders, four world time individual time trial titles, two Olympic gold medals, seven stages of the Tour de France, a win at Milan-San Remo and many more victories besides.
