Theuns takes home win in Belgium Tour

by CyclingTips

Edward Theuns (Trek-Segafredo) took his first win of the season on the first road stage of the Baloise Belgium Tour, winning the sprint ahead of Daniel McLay (Fortuneo-Vital Concept) and Kenny Dehaes (Wanty-Groupe Gobert).

“It’s nice to get my first win for the team, who have me here as the team’s leader. I’m glad I can show I’m worth it, “said Theuns.

With only six riders starting the race for the team,

“The last lap I could stay up front pretty easily. Boy Van Poppel came on very early; a bit too early I even thought. I kept him pushing it until he was 450 meters from the finish. Then could I anticipate it.

“We have a good team, but it’s more difficult without a full squad.”
