Bennett doubles up at the Czech Cycling Tour, Cerny scoops overall
by CyclingTips
Irishman Sam Bennett (Bora-Hansgrohe) has claimed his second stage win of the Czech Cycling Tour, sprinting to victory on the final stage as local Continental rider Josef Cerny (Elkov – Author) rode to overall success.
Bennett was too strong in the bunch sprint to Dolany, finishing comfortably ahead of Filippo Fortin (Tirol) and Jannik Steimle (Felbermayr-Simplon Wels).
Bora-Hansgrohe had gone into the day with two aims — to win the stage with Bennett, and to take enough bonus seconds with Jan Barta (eight) to win the overall as well. The first of those aims was a success; the second proved more difficult with stage 3 winner Cerny resisting all of the WorldTour team’s efforts and riding to the first stage-race success of his career.
