Boonen: I will truly miss the team time trial

by CyclingTips

Now well into his retirement season, Tom Boonen (Quick Step Floors) says he will especially miss the team time trial discipline, after racing in his final one at Tirreno-Adriatico on Wednesday.

“Too bad we did not win, but after a week in bed, I am happy with my legs,” said Boonen. The team finished second to BMC by 17 seconds over the 22km course.

“Now is the time to grind down mileage to the best competitions in the world: the Classics.”

Boonen won a TTT world championship in 2012 with his Quick Step team, and also has a silver and a bronze medal in the event.
