Bouhanni suing over fight

by CyclingTips

Cofidis’ Nacer Bouhanni is suing four men over the late night hotel fight the night before the French road championships that injured his hand and caused him to miss the Tour de France.

French judicial authorities have confirmed a complaint has been filed. According to AFP Bouhanni did not comment.

Cofidis said at the time that the rider had been “assaulted by drunken people” but that his injury would not prevent him from racing in the Tour. Bouhanni said the fight happened when he confronted rowdy hotel guests near his room when he was trying to sleep, which resulted in a fight.

However, the injury was worse than initially thought and ended up requiring surgery, ending his Tour de France before it began.

The Cofidis team, a wildcard entry, built its Tour squad around the French sprinter in hopes for a stage win.
