Cofidis backs Bouhanni for Le Tour

by CyclingTips

Nacer Bouhanni will lead the French Cofidis team in its home race, looking for sprint wins and a shot at the green jersey.

The sprinter is arguably down for a fight on the flat stages, having injured his hand in a bar fight the night before the French road race championship.

The team said in a statement that he was, “assaulted by drunken people” but that his Tour de France participation was not in doubt.

This will be his third Tour de France start, though he is still seeking his first stage win. He has seven wins so far this year and won the points jersey and overall at the Tour de Picardie. Most recently he won a stage at the Criterium du Dauphiné.
