Cyclist suffers serious eye injury after being hit by egg thrown from car

by CyclingTips

A British cyclist suffered a serious eye injury after an egg was thrown at him from a moving vehicle.

Dylan Watt, 37, was cycling from Crowthorne towards Bracknell on the B3348 at around 8:30 p.m. last Tuesday, when he was struck in the face. Local police described the vehicle as a grey Peugeot 205 or 305 model.

Watt was treated for a serious eye injury which could result in lasting damage to his eyesight.

Police are asking for help in tracking down the perpetrators of the incident. “This was a cowardice act that caused an extremely serious eye injury, ” said investigator Ben Eastment. “I am appealing to anyone who has any information about this incident to come forward, especially if you know who was driving that Peugeot vehicle or know who threw the egg.”

“If you do not want to speak directly to the police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.”
