Australian Luke Durbridge (Orica-Scott) abandoned the Tour de France Sunday due to injuries sustained in the opening time trial Saturday in Düsseldorf. Durbridge suffered no broken bones, but “some ligament damage” to his in left ankle.
At the start of the stage on Sunday, Durbridge said, “It’s pretty sore to walk, but lucky I don’t need to walk to be able to finish today.” However, just an hour into Stage 2, the 26-year-old abandoned his fourth Tour de France.
