Egyptian Eslam Nasser Zaki dies at African Continental Track Cycling Championships

Cycling South Africa is reporting the tragic death of Egyptian cyclist Eslam Nasser Zaki, who was participating in the African Continental Track Cycling Championships at the Cyril Geoghegan Track in Durban.

The incident took place during the men’s Omnium-Tempo race. Zaki, 22, was riding when he suddenly fell off his bike. Medics were on hand immediately to render emergency medical assistance, but after prolonged attempts to resuscitate him, he was declared dead.
