Ellen Van Dijk breaks her ribs in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad crash

by VeloClub

Saturday was an incredible day for Boels -Dolmans as the team won Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and Evelyn Stevens set a new women’s UCI Hour record. But for the team’s TT powerhouse, Ellen van Dijk, the day ended poorly. Caught in a crash in Omloop het Nieuwsblad, Van Dijk suffered several broken ribs.

Van Dijk showed good form in Qatar last month and was hoping for early season successes in the Spring Classics to work toward national team selection for Rio.

At this time it’s uncertain how long Van Dijk’s recovery period will be.
