Fernando Gaviria lept off a perfect leadout from his Quick-Step Floors team — a leadout so powerful that it gapped all Manzana Postobon’s Juan Sebastian Molano — to take the first stage of his home race, Colombia Oro y Paz.
The first three stages of the new Colombian stage race are primed for the sprinters. The last three stages head into the mountains.
We told you yesterday that Nairo Quintana’s season opener at Colombia Oro y Paz was going to be “calm,” but sometimes bike racing has other ideas.
