Three-time Tour de France winner Greg LeMond has called for Chris Froome to face a ban for his salbutamol test, criticising Froome and Sky in the process.
LeMond is sceptical of Froome’s claim that he simply took too many puffs of his asthma inhaler.
“Give me a break,” the American told The Times. “That is the most ridiculous excuse I have ever heard. If this is what he claims, then it’s simple, he broke the rules and should be punished accordingly.”
LeMond was also less than complimentary about Sky principal Dave Brailsford: “I don’t believe in Dave Brailsford. He’s secretive, he skirts around questions, and from what I read and hear, the team is not as scientific and as knowledgeable as they claim to be.”
