The American UCI pro women’s team Hagens Berman-Supermint is returning for a second season and is adding more talent to its roster. The team is co-owned by director Jono Coulter, from Australia and rider Lindsay Bayer.
Scotti Lechuga (Hagens Berman Supermint Pro Cycling Team) took stage 1 of the Redlands Bicycle Classic in front of the Twenty16 RideBiker Pro Cycling duo of Kristin Armstrong and Alison Jackson.
Scotti Lechuga will lead the team after a breakout 2016 season that included wins at the Redlands Bicycle Classic and Tucson Bicycle Classic. Other returning riders include Liza Rachetto, Julie Kuliecza, Megan Alderete, and Ivy Audrain.
“Jono brought in fellow Aussies with 2014 National Road Champion Peta Mullens signed after a year racing mountain bikes, and Lizzie Williams fresh off two seasons racing in Europe with Orica-AIS. Lizzie notably won Stage 3 of the 2016 Santos Women’s Tour,” said Bayer.
“Jessica Cerra arrives to boost the GC strength of the team after two strong seasons with TWENTY16-Ridebiker. Beth Ann Orton joins from Visit Dallas DNA Pro Cycling to increase our time trialing firepower, and Starla Teddergreen comes from a stellar season with the KindHuman Project in which she wore the Sprinter’s Jersey at both Redlands and the North Star Grand Prix.”
The team will be riding bikes from the new American bicycle company HIA Velo and will begin the season in Australia with the Mitchelton Bay Cycling Classic, Tour Down Under and Cadel Evans Great Ocean Race.
