Jakob Fuglsang to target the Tour in 2018

by CyclingTips

In June of this year, Jakob Fuglsang (Astana) took the biggest win of his career at the Criterium du Dauphine. That victory made him a rider to watch at the Tour de France the following month but, sadly for the Dane, a crash spelled an end to his chances at that race.

Fuglsang plans to return to the Tour in 2018 and will do so with considerable confidence.

“I showed again in the Tour before I crashed that I had the level to be in the front,” Fuglsang told Cyclingnews. “All in all, it has been a good season and of course it could have been better but I am happy with the year.

“There are a lot of things I can take with me into next year. The fact that I came back winning again after four years without winning anything and won a race like the Dauphiné, and the fact I have the level to be at the front with the very best.”

Fuglsang believes that parcours for next year’s Tour “looks interesting”, looks hard”, and suits him “quite well”.
