Jones wins final stage of Tour de Taiwan, Prades takes overall

by Mark Zalewski

Australian Brenton Jones (JLT Condor) won the fifth and final stage of the Tour of Taiwan, ahead of Colombian Edwin Avila (Team Illuminate) and the American Luke Keough (UnitedHealthcare). Spaniard Benjamin Prades (Team Ukyo) took home the overall win after taking the lead on the previous stage.

The overall win for Team Ukyo was even more impressive as the team also had Rodrigo Araque in fourth overall.

“A great win after all!” the team said. “Benja the winner, Rodrigo in fourth — Oscar [Pujol], [Michimasa] Nakai, [Suguru] Tokuda all gave a lot of assistance. It is a victory for everyone.”

Patrick Lane (IsoWhey Sports SwissWellness) was the final rider caught from the breakaway, riding solo inside the final 10km.

The stage win is a turnaround for JLT Condor after their GC rider Edmund Bradbury crashed on the fourth stage, taking him out of the overall while in fourth place.
