Wilier Triestina – Selle Italia’s Luca Pacioni took a fast sprint to win stage 6 of the Tour of Langkawi. Riccardo Minali (Astana) was second and Mohd Hariff Saleh (Terengganu Cycling Team) was third. It was Minali’s third victory of the race.
The short, 108km stage began in Tapah and finished in Tanjung Malim. The early kilometers failed to see a breakaway move clear, opening up the first bonus sprint to GC men looking for seconds. Finally, Turakit Boonratanathanakorn of the Thailand Continental Cycling Team eventually escaped alone. He was caught with under 5km remaining, setting up a fast sprint finish.
“This is my most beautiful victory so far after I won the last stages of Tour of Taiwan and Tropicale Amissa Bongo,” Pacioni said of the victory.
