Marcus Culey leads Australian 1-2-3 at the Tour de Moluccas

by CyclingTips

Twenty-three-year-old Marcus Culey (St. George Continental Cycling Team) has led in an Australian 1-2-3 in the first edition of the Tour de Moluccas, a five-stage UCI2.2 event in Indonesia.

Culey won the opening stage of the race from a three-rider breakaway, beating compatriots Jai Crawford (Hinan) and Jesse Ewart (7 Eleven) in what was the St. George Continental team’s first UCI stage victory. The trio finished more than six minutes clear of the rest of the field, giving them a considerable buffer over the days that followed.

By the end of the fifth and final stage, the Australian trio finished in the same order they did on the opening stage: Culey first, Crawford second and Ewart third. The win was St. George Continental’s first UCI stage race victory.
