On the cobblestone streets of Altenburg, Vos opened up such a gap in the final dash that second-placed Emma Johansson (Wiggle High5) and third-placed Ellen Van Dijk (Boels-Dolmans) finished three seconds down.

Overall leader and stage 2 winner Olga Zabelinskaya (Russia) finished in a group six seconds down but will hold onto the leader’s jersey.

Monday’s fourth stage of the seven-stage race is a 19km individual time trial.
